Empowered by Nature

In May 2016, Empowered by Grace officially launched Empowered by Nature. This new program was designed to cultivate a love and respect for nature while building hunting, hiking and fishing skills in boys and girls ages 8-17.  The program includes hiking, fishing and hunting safety training and instruction on the use of firearms and fishing equipment and features actual hands on training. The groups meet once per month for seven months beginning in March and running through October. The training takes place on an 18-acre parcel that includes a 6-acre spring-fed lake. Each session is from 2-3 hours and includes not only teaching and hands on experience, but begins with a hearty country breakfast.

The goal of the program is to encourage team building, conservation, a love and respect for nature, as well as the techniques for safe hiking, fishing and hunting. The program has introduced young people, many of who would not ordinarily have the opportunity to participate in outdoor sports such as this, to a new experience.

Each October, an annual fishing derby takes place. The entire community of kids between the ages of 6-14 is invited to participate in this event and trophies are presented to the winners of each age category.

Empowered by Nature was designed to both introduce kids in our community to a new experience and teach them the value of team work, being good stewards of their environment and surroundings, and sports that they can enjoy for a lifetime in an environment that can bring joy, excitement and peace of mind.
